Présentation

Zimbra is a collaborative messaging server. Its 100% online, Ajax based user interface is famous for its ergonomics.

All Zimbra's functionalities can be accessed through a web browser or a fat client. Zimbra’s webmail is in fact compatible with all modern browsers. The Zimbra suite includes a Zimbra Desktop fat client but remains fully compatible with standard fat clients like Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Eudora, etc. In its commercial edition, Zimbra can also synchronise with virtually all mobile platforms (iPhone OS, BlackBerry, Android, Symbian OS and Palm OS).

Zimbra is published under the Zimbra Public License, a derivative of the MPL.

The messaging tool is based on a rich and robust infrastructure base: WebDAV (XML), LDAP, iCal, HTTP(S), SMTP, IMAP, POP3 and CalDAV. It supplies a SOAP base enabling the development of plug-ins called “Zimlets” that provide for the free extension of its functional scope. This makes it possible to interface with a telephony solution like Asterisk or a CRM tool like SugarCRM. Since 2012, it has also offered advanced voice messaging and unified communication functionalities, interfacing with Cisco solutions (API in the works for other solutions). Today, Zimbra has become an indispensable reference in collaborative enterprise messaging.

“ DO NOT use their "official" binaries - they CANNOT be trusted. I've done lots of Zimbra projects with huge customizations and so digged deeper into the code. For a long time their (published) source code DOES NOT BUILD AT ALL. I've filed lots of bug reports and provided fixes, but all got rejected w/ silly excuses. From the tone @bugzilla, it seems they DONT want anybody being able to build it on their own. Clear indication for EVIL things in the official binaries. Maybe CIA/NSA backdoors ? ”
