OpenBSD is a free, open source, community operating system based on BSD UNIX. It was created in 1994 by Theo de Raadt. The project is a spin-off of NetBSD, from which it separated in 1996.
Developed by the OpenBSD Foundation, which boasts more than a hundred developers, the OpenBSD project is a complete operating system that focuses on quality and code security. It is often used on sensitive network equipment.
OpenBSD is distributed under the BSD License.
The vast majority of its code is written in C.
