Selenium is an interface testing tool. The project began in 2004 at ThoughtWorks in Chicago, thanks to Jason Huggins who wanted to test the response times of various applications (Python, Plone, etc.).
Selenium is based on Selenium IDE, for the recording of interface tests from Firefox and their storage for playback with Selenium. This tool is very useful in confirming that an interface conforms to expectations. In addition, it can be integrated with a continuous integration platform in order to automate interface testing. Users can choose to utilise the records or to modify the scripts manually.
Selenium is distributed under the Apache License.
