Ubuntu 12.04: more secure than Windows and MacOS according to study

A study by the CESG, the UK authority in charge of the protection and security of communications and electronic data, has concluded that Ubuntu 12.04 has fewer security risks than Windows or MacOS .

The study, conducted during the last quarter of 2013, compared 11 competing operating systems, including mobile operating systems: Android, Samsung Devices with Android 4.2, Apple iOS 6, Apple OSX 10.8, Blackberry 10.1 (EMM Corporate), Blackberry 10.1 (EMM Regulated), Google Chrome OS 26, Ubuntu 12.04, Windows 7 and 8, Windows 8 RT et Windows Phone 8.

Tests on twelve different aspects of safety were performed on these 11 operating systems: VPN (Virtual Private Network), disk encryption, authentication, Secure boot ...

The objective of the study was to provide guidance to public sector institutions when deploying equipment.

It was Ubuntu 12.04, from the publisher Canonical, who emerged victorious from these tests, showing no major security threats.
