BeezNest announces Chamilo LMS v1.9.10

BeezNest, the primary vendor for the open source learning management system Chamilo LMS, recently announced the release of version 1.9.10 of the software, the product of six months of active development of improvements on top of previous versions.

Chamilo LMS is a comprehensive, effective, interoperable, user-friendly learning management solution that incorporates a social network, a file management system, SCORM 1.2 compatibility, and the creation of lessons, calendars, forums and chats, and is available in 45 languages and dialects. It has been widely recognized for its user-friendliness, which gives it a clear advantage in terms of implementation and maintenance costs, as well as motivation on the part of its learners and tutors.

A spin-off of another open source LMS in January 2010, Chamilo LMS has experienced exponential growth, the platform being deployed in more than 10,000 organizations with more than 9 million learners worldwide, including universities, ministries and corporations in more than 180 countries.

New features

The numerous improvements in Chamilo LMS 1.9.10 include:

• Enhanced adaptative interface for use through mobile devices;
• Largely improved user role for human resources directors;
• Revisited skills management system (soon to be coupled with OpenBadges);
• Plugin for sending announcements via SMS;
• REST API for viewing social network messages using mobile applications;
• Support for content generated by the Opale/Scenarii publishing chain;
• New type of "calculated questions" for arithmetic problems;
• Total campus size checker for hosting companies.

Chamilo is published by BeezNest with the non-negligible support of its open source community. The project is also coordinated by the Chamilo Association.
